Abstract

Kasongan Tourism Village, which is situated at Bangunjiwo Village, Kasihan Subdistrict, is the center of earthenware production. Most of the people there have routinely worked to make unique handicrafts and souvenirs from clay.So far, orders mostly come from the United States of America, Netherlands, Malaysia, and Italy. The global monetery crisis decreased the sale by 50% in 2009. This decrease has gone on upto now. Consequently, the craftmen have had to lessen their products from 500-1,000 units to 300-600 units per month. The chief factor that is deemed to be responsible for this sale decrease is the product marketing system which conventionally only rellies on leaflets, brocures, and exhibitions. Meanwhile, the available communication and information technology has not been utilized optimally.
The program to apply mobile commerce (M-Commerce) in marketing the creative industry of Kasongan Earthenware is an alternative solution. This program focuses on the implementation of communication and information technology to expand marketing by utilizing the application of M-Commerce. It will support the marketing activities of earthenware creative industry of Technical Unit of Kasongan Earthenware Development. This activity also becomes a way to improve the collaboration of students, lecturers, and the targetted community in resolving problems.
There are six activities which were successfully carried out for this program, those are 1) M-Commrerce application development, 2) training of entrepreneurship and marketing management, 3) training of the program applications of communication and information technology, 4) training of the usage of M-Commerce application for marketing, 5) web application development, and 6) training of communication and information technology management. Activities number 5 and 6 are additional since there has not been web application used specifically to publicize the Kasongan earthenware creative industry products and there have not been capable local personnels to manage a website.
